How To Look Fabulous On Rainy Days

Hello Divas!

When rainy weather hits, cheer up the dreary surroundings by throwing on a fashionably fabulous outfit! Trust me ladies, this does wonders for your mood.  On a particularly rainy day in  NYC last week, I wore this ensemble and felt so chic! No dark clouds and rain is gonna bring this fab chica down!

The key to pulling a fashionable and functional look on rainy days is all about making sure those rainy day essentials: the trench, the boots and of course your umbrella, are as fashionable as possible.  That's how you take it to the next level. Instead of a ho-hum jacket, I have on a full length vintage trench coat. In place of ordinary plastic rain boots, I am wearing faux patent leather '60s inspired boots with clear Lucite wedge heels.  And for my umbrella, I have a clear bubble vintage-inspired design.  I don't believe in breaking the bank to look Fabulous, so everything I have on is very affordable : )!

I am also wearing menswear inspired pieces which is a HOT, HOT, HOT trend this winter.  And of course layering is always chic! (My next post will be on the "Art of Layering"!)

The 4-1-1:

The Blazer: Vintage
The Vest: Vintage
The Sweater (inside not shown): H&M
The Scarf: H&M
The Necklaces: Dereon and H&M
The Pin (on blazer): Aldo Accessories
The Jeans: Dereon
The Belt: Dereon
The Boots: Abaete for Payless
The Ring: Forever 21
The Trench: Vintage
The Umbrella: Vista

Hello Divas!

Yesterday I was walking through Williamsburg, Brooklyn and found the cutest boutique, Mini Minimarket!! (How much are you loving the adorable name?!) Owned by Erika Vala and Dana Schwister, Mini Minimarket opened its doors in 1999.  The store was built on the concept of "girlie bodega", a "little store packed with everything girls or women desire."  I was totally attracted to the store's vintage and cozy feel. Fab Spring 2010 Trend: Full And Flirty!

Hello Divas!
The 80's are one of my favorite fashion eras so you know I'm totally loving the full volume skirts and dresses that are making a full comeback in Spring 2010! Yes, divas, this will be one of the hottest trends for spring, especially with the young and fabulous set. I love the flirty, layered crinoline skirts. Very reminiscent of 80's Madonna. Very girly and romantic. Very my style : )

My favorite look is the blue Betsey Johnson ensemble. (She's also one of my favorite designers!) I love the pairing of a fitted jacket with a full skirt. This look actually has 2 skirts worn layered. Love that. Very chic and fun! Remember, ladies, balance is key!

The 4-1-1:

First Look- Betsey Johnson cotton and spandex blazer, blue nylon skirt and white cotton skirt
Joanna Laura Constantine ring, earrings and cuff

Second Look- Necessary Objects by Ady Gluck dress in polyester, rayon and spandex
River Island belt, Joanna Laura Constantine necklace (worn as bracelet)
Noir Jewelry necklaces

V Magazine Showcases Sexy Curves!

Living in our society can be difficult when the media is pressuring us to believe that "thin is in". This is why I am so excited about V Magazine's upcoming "The Size Issue", featuring 5 plus size models. The issue will hit newsstands Thursday, January 14. Photographer Solve Sundsbo told V, "I loved the opportunity to show that you can be beautiful and sexy outside the narrow interpretations that normally define us."

My sentiments exactly!

What a wonderful way to start off the new year by embracing your curves! Personally I would like my hips to be wider since I find that so womanly and sexy! Hooray for curves! Ladies, embrace your amazing bodies! Stop tearing yourself down in 2010.

Styling by Nicola Formichetti.

Divas, what do you think of the new issue?

Vintage Chic-ness!

Hello Divas!

Everyone who knows me, knows I absolutely adore vintage (esp from the 70's and 80's!). I just love the fashion and style of that era! And thanks to my fashionable and chic mom, I have tons of vintage hand-me-downs: tops, blouses, skirts, sweaters, belts, dresses the list goes wonderfully on and on!

My favorite thing to do is mix vintage pieces with modern staples! It brings a whole new dynamic to the outfit and you mesh two very different looks to create what I call "vintage chic"!

My recent "vintage meets modern" look was this totally Fab 80's plaid top paired with black leggings, brown boots and a gold and black clutch! I wore this to a Bday party at a lounge in NYC and it was def the highlight of my night!

Details:

*The plaid top has black buttons down the back which is such an awesome twist. And I absolutely ADORE the puffed shoulders! Also love that the pink color is unexpected for plaid!

*The leggings are from Italy and they are my favorite pair of black leggings ever! Super comfortable and sexy!

*The boots are from Payless (gasp!). Could you believe that? They are so cool and I continuously get compliments! Great classic equestrian style and wonderful quality!

*The accessories! I kept to a gold and black theme wearing a gold and black necklace and same color clutch. Added on my staple gold chain bracelet and for a twist, a gold bling bracelet. My "belt" is pretty amazing since its actually a really old necklace! I love how it totally completes the look!

What are your favorite vintage-chic looks? And are you a vintage lover like myself?
